Georgetown Reads! 2008
2008 Selection: A Twist at the End
In a very close race with nearly 300 votes cast from throughout the city, the Georgetown Public Library is glad to announce the selection for the 2008 Georgetown Reads! one-book-one-community program is:
A Twist at the End by Steven Saylor.
Set in Austin in the 1880's, it's the story of Will Porter, aka O. Henry. This historical fiction includes real events such as the servant girl murders and numerous real Texas characters such as Elizabet Ney. The book looks at racial bigotry and politico-economic deceit in post-Civil War Texas.

One-City-One-Book Program
The goal of a one-city-one-book program is three-fold. It should expand the world of the reader through book discussions, broaden the reader's engagement or appreciation of a work, and it should build community by bringing diverse people together.
