Summer Reading 2008
Texas Reading Program
This is a self-paced program in which the children set their own goals, choose their levels of reading and keep records of the books they have read (or that are read to them) or the amount of time they spend reading each day. A certificate will be issued when each child completes his or her reading log.
New this year! Register and keep track of your reading progress online. It's easy and fun. Online features include the ability to submit and share reviews of books you have read, instant notification when a prize level is reached, no more paper logs to keep track of and reminders of upcoming programs.
If you prefer, paper logs are still available. Stop by the Georgetown Public Library to register and pick up the reading logs.
Just for fun- a look back at the artwork for the past 50 years of summer reading in the state of Texas.
A fun little video starring Joe McDermott to celebrate the Texas Reading Club Jubilee 1858-2008!
Completion of a reading log also qualifies children for the end-of-summer drawings for the grand prizes: three $100 savings bonds from First Texas Bank. Special programs and events associated with the summer reading program are planned to promote reading as a pleasurable activity and to provide fun activities at the library. Participation in all the activities is FREE. See the events calendar for full details.
